Ministry

Worship Ministries

St. Alban’s has many ministries through which people are invited into participation and spiritual service in our worship life.

Each of these is not just a job but a ministry: an offering of your gifts to help shape how our community meets God. If any of these call to you, we’d love to invite you into training and participation.

Opportunities

Acolytes / Crucifers

Young people (or adults) trained to assist in processions, serve at the altar, carry torch or cross — a way to embody liturgical leadership.

Lectors / Readers

Those who read the Scripture readings in worship. They offer a gift of presence, clarity, and care in proclaiming God’s word.

Intercessors / Prayers of the People

Leading the community’s prayers — lifting hopes, concerns, thanksgivings, and needs in a collective voice.

Ushers / Greeters

Welcoming people, handing out service leaflets, guiding congregants, and creating a hospitable worship environment.

Choir / Music Ministry

At the 10:30 service, the choir (under Dr. Ray Urwin) leads congregational singing, anthems, choral settings, and helps shape worship’s musical theology.
