EPISCOPAL RELIEF & DEVELOPMENT

The recent and compelling homily by Josephine Hicks of Episcopal Relief & Development described how ER&D facilitates healthier, more fulfilling lives in communities struggling with hunger, poverty, disaster and disease around the world. ER&D is involved in so many of the activities which align with St Alban’s values and culture, and gives us the opportunity to broaden our horizons and assist the global family.  Our Peace and Justice committee strongly encourages you to support this ministry.  Through a connection to Anglican partners and local communities, ER&D works in places where few others remain for long, to deliver life-improving results in innovative and unique ways, focusing on three life-changing priorities – Women, Children and Climate – creating authentic, lasting results that can be sustained by the communities themselves.   For example, their work supporting women is clearly focused on reducing gender-based violence; early childhood development is core to their work with children; and climate-smart agriculture restores agricultural systems and prepares for global warming.  Consider these action areas:
