Reminders from the Priest-in-Charge August 2023

Please join us to honor the ministry of summer organist Bill Wunsch and cantor Adam McCrory with a light reception after our 10 am service on August 27th. Their last Sunday will be September 3rd.

The Episcopal Diocese of Los Angeles, Diocesan Climate Change Summit is set for Sept 16th in Echo Park; all congregations are asked to send representatives to the hybrid event. Those interested, please contact me, Canon Newman.

We are pleased to announce that our new Director of Music, Dr Ray Urwin, has accepted the position as organist here at St Alban’s. Our gain is a loss for St Michael’s in Corona Del Mar, where Ray has served in ministry for nearly 10 years. We look forward to welcoming him in his official capacity on Sunday, September 10th.

I will be away on Sunday, August 27, and September 3rd, at the Oregon Shakespeare Festival. The Rev Katherine Feng and Canon Anne Tumilty will fill those dates.

Welcome Our Interim Summer Music Team

We are pleased to welcome our new interim music team for the summer to St. Albans. William Wunsch will be at the keyboard. He is an experienced organist and the editor of one of the church’s supplemental hymnals, “Wonder Love, and Praise.” Our cantor will be Adam McCory who has ties to UCLA. Come and meet them on July 2nd.

Search Committee Update

The Rector Search Committee is hard at work. They have received and screened candidates. Round two will involve listening to (or reading) sermons. Please keep them in your prayers.

We Are Back To 2 Worship Services!

Starting January 8th, St. Albans will be returning to our regular schedule of two services on Sunday morning. The first service is at 8 AM, and the second service is at 10 AM, giving you twice as many opportunities to be with your church family! We hope that you’ll continue to join us in times of worship and learning onward into the year.

As always, if you can’t join us on Sunday, you can view our services online, or check out other ways to get connected with our ministries.

Christmas Season Services Schedule!

Christmas Worship Schedule
This is an invitation to join us for our Christmas services this year. Our Parish, our spiritual family, desires that all members of our community come together to celebrate the Birth of Our Lord.
Saturday, December 24th at 5PM – FAMILY EUCHARIST
Saturday, December 24th at 10:30PM – CHRISTMAS VIGIL

Thanks to the volunteer participation of several in our community, we will be able to have an 11:00pm service on Christmas Eve, preceded by a musical offering at 10:30pm.  We are grateful to our priest, choir director and altar guild for ensuring that one of the most beautiful and joyful services of the liturgical season will be included among our Christmas celebrations.  We welcome all who are able to join us this late Christmas Eve.
