Join Us To Celebrate The Final Sunday of Our Interim Priest, Father Jim!

Join us as we celebrate the final Sunday of our Interim Priest, the Rev. Canon Jim Newman. He has been a vital asset to the life of the parish and was very instrumental in the process of helping us select our new Priest, Father Adam Dawkins, who will begin his first Sunday on February 11th.

We will host a special coffee hour party before and after each service (8 am and 10 am) on Sunday, February 4th, 2024. Please invite a guest with you, and we look forward to seeing you there.

Reminders For October

It’s the season for STEWARDSHIP. I would like to get all of the pledges in by All Saints’ Sunday so that the vestry can plan for our 2024 budget with our new Rector in place. This is a time for your prayer and your help for the new year.

All Saints’ Sunday is November 5th. On that day, we invite baptisms and confirmations and celebrate the renewal of our baptismal vows. Our special guest at both services will be our area Bishop, Bishop Frank Brookhart. (Remember Pentecost? You’ll get a bit wet!)

Peace and Love

Reminders from the Priest-in-Charge August 2023

Please join us to honor the ministry of summer organist Bill Wunsch and cantor Adam McCrory with a light reception after our 10 am service on August 27th. Their last Sunday will be September 3rd.

The Episcopal Diocese of Los Angeles, Diocesan Climate Change Summit is set for Sept 16th in Echo Park; all congregations are asked to send representatives to the hybrid event. Those interested, please contact me, Canon Newman.

We are pleased to announce that our new Director of Music, Dr Ray Urwin, has accepted the position as organist here at St Alban’s. Our gain is a loss for St Michael’s in Corona Del Mar, where Ray has served in ministry for nearly 10 years. We look forward to welcoming him in his official capacity on Sunday, September 10th.

I will be away on Sunday, August 27, and September 3rd, at the Oregon Shakespeare Festival. The Rev Katherine Feng and Canon Anne Tumilty will fill those dates.

In Christ,

Father Jim Newman
